Things to Consider
Tootsy guide with a walking tour in Savannah
The first thing to do is make a reservation with the Birthplace. Tootsy Tours cannot do this for you. Reservations are required for all troop program activities at the Birthplace and admission charges are due 3 months before your scheduled visit.
The Birthplace is taking reservations for 2 years from now. Tootsy Tours cannot arrange activities at the Birthplace. Troop leaders must arrange all programs and payments with the Birthplace staff. (912-233-4501)
Book Early
Savannah is a small and crowded city. Unless you book more than 6 months in advance, we cannot be sure of booking the hotel, attractions, and restaurants you want.

No Tootsy Girl Scout Tours on these dates
Savannah is paticularly expensive and crowded at certain times of year, usually when there are big conferences or festivals.
Tootsy Tours cannot host Girl Scout Troops the last week in December, the week of March 17 (St. Patrick's Day), Memorial Day weekend, or Labor Day weekend.
Off-Season Prices
Prices for Girl Scout Tours are about 10% lower if you visit Savannah in November through February. The weather is usually delightful and the attractions are less crowded. We Tootsies take our camping and canoeing trips at this time of year because of the pleasant temperatures and lack of crowds.
Transportation
Downtown hotels are easy walking-distance from the Birthplace (although considerably more expensive than midtown hotels). You need transportation if you go to Fort Jackson, Seabrook, or Tybee Island. Out of town activities include a visit to Tybee Lighthouse, the best dolphin cruise, an ecology saltmarsh cruise, a marsh walk, or a beach walk. If you come by air or Amtrak, we can provide transportation in Savannah for a day or two for these activities.
How a Tootsy Girl Scout Tour Works
- You book your Birthplace program, find out how many adults and children are coming to Savannah, decide how long you will stay, and how you will travel. An approximate budget is also a big help.
- You fill in our form requesting a Girl Scout proposal.
- We send you a proposal. We assume that troop members will sleep 4 in a room, so the cost of a trip changes when your numbers change. For example, 16 people staying in 4 rooms will be cheaper PER PERSON than 14 people staying in 4 rooms.
- When you are satisfied with your proposal, you sign a sales agreement and send it to us with a $200 deposit.
- If we are able to book the hotel rooms you want, we sign the agreement, mail it back to you, and your trip is booked.
- About 2 months before your trip, you need to inform us if your numbers have changed, which will change the price of the trip.
- About 6 weeks before you arrive, we send you an invoice. We send you menu forms for any meals you have booked that need to be chosen in advance. We also send you a map and any instructions you may need.
- You pay the invoice 30 days before your trip (no refund is possible after this date) and return the menus to us.
- You arrive in Savannah and have a wonderful trip.
"Thanks for making our stay in Savannah go like clockwork. And a big thank you for getting the wheelchair for Cindy so quickly. We look forward to a future visit in about 4 years."

"The girls and adults can't stop talking about how well our trip went! Joan was adept at keeping us on schedule and prevented me from getting lost in traffic (no small feat). The girls enjoyed First Headquarters and especially our guide, Jamie. Jeff, our Sergeant at Fort Jackson, was fantastic, and the Dolphin Cruise was the perfect high note to end our trip."

"We can't thank you enough for making our visit to Savannah a wonderful experience. Joan and Janis were the best guides. Tootsy Tours will be highly recommended and I am sure you will be planning more trips for groups from Delaware."
